24th June 2012 RV3411 Southsea Running Day
RV3411 at our Southsea Running Day by Paul Knight
|
This is the first time in a number of years that CPPTD have
been able to display RV3411 to the public behind the D-Day Museum Southsea in June, at the end of each month on the last Sunday where they hold a running day,
it was previously a double deck bus converted to be used to inspect the Trolley
bus Overhead Cables and also able to tow Breakdowns back to the depots.

9th July 2012 RV3411 having a good clean.
9th July 2012 STP995 in progress
The Lower Deck is full of the part to complete it.

Looking forward on the upper deck just a good clean
required.
The staircase is being reassembled and is starting to
take shape, after many years of inactive work whilst in storage with its
previous owner. Hopefully now that the priorities of some of
the other projects have now been completed work can now recommence to complete
it. Although it does look like
there is a lot of work, the most important and major tasks have
been completed. The lower deck just needs to be reassembled and finished off
with a good paint job to match that of the upper deck &
the finial coat to the outside and it will look splendid once again.

After many years of little work due to other on going projects and our relocations, CPPTD's week day crew have started to make a significant difference to 189's appearance. A set of window pans have now been fabricated at considerable cost, they do look the part and after a number of attempts to get them just right. The lower deck is now starting to take shape, the lower deck ceiling panels have now been removed and the upper deck has now been cleared of rubbish. A number of rotted flooring timbers have now been removed from around the flooring on the upper deck, also allowing access to the cabling for the lighting and bell circuits of the lower deck.
